On January 7th 801 Asbury Associates, LP completed its assignment to SBA Communications Corporation of its rooftop cell site leases under a 50-year easement arrangement.

Della and I purchased 801 Asbury Avenue, a now 90 year-old landmark bank/office building at the center of Ocean City’s downtown, in July 1994. Thereafter, we spent almost five years restoring and refurbishing the building to its former grand style. An unexpected benefit realized from our building’s height and central location was its use as a platform for the, then, emerging cellular telecommunications industry While maintaining the building’s “period piece” quality, we were able to accommodate the major telecommunications carriers and two local radio stations on our building’s roof.

Last September, on the advice of a friend, we spoke with Jessica Penman and Mark Schmidt of your office about the possible “sale” of our roof top leases. In less than three weeks your firm had a signed letter of intent on our desk at a price significantly exceeding our expectations and upon terms that were fair and reasonable.
